1. It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you are sincere.
John 8:31
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
2 John 1:9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
2. Baptism is the external sign of an inward grace, but not necessary to be saved.
Mark 16:15-16
15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
2 Thessalonians 1:8
in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
Acts 22:16 And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’
3. Baptism can be by immersion, pouring, or sprinkling.
Romans 6:4
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Colossians 2:12
having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
Baptism that is not by immersion is not baptism as God has commanded.
4. It doesn’t matter what church you go to as long as you are sincere.
Matthew 16:18 Jesus said “…I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
1 Corinthians 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.
5. All you have to do to be saved is believe and say the sinners prayer.
Campus Crusade for Christ:
Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.
The Bible doesn’t teach us to say any prayer for salvation. However it does tell us how one asks for salvation:
1 Peter 3:21
Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
6. Don’t be too concerned with your salvation, Jesus died, God has saved us, and everything is okay.
Philippians 2:12
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,
Our salvation is the most important matter we will ever be concerned with in life. It can never be taken lightly. It has to do with where we will spend eternity. We must take it seriously. Many of the decisions in life are not easy!
