God calls us through the knowledge of his word, the Bible, not to soft beds of ease and material blessings, but to the work of Christ , who lived here having no place to lay his head. (Matthew 8:20); not to earthly peace and tranquility, but to fight the good fight of faith. (1 Timothy 6:12); not to praises of man, but to the jeers of unbelieving people who “utter all kinds of evil against you falsely” because we do what He says. (Matthew 5:11)<\/p>\n
The unrealistic expectations taught by most teachers and preachers do not prepare people to understand, to enter, or to live the life of a follower of Christ. Christ encouraged the great crowd that followed Him to “count the cost,” (Luke 14:25-33) because He knew that if one were not ready to recognize and pay that cost, he would never be able to live that life.<\/p>\n
